The first thing we do on any estimate is walk the slab and look for the usual warning signs. Cracks that run straight across the driveway are common, but not all cracks are equal. A hairline crack that's been there for years might be nothing more than a surface contraction crack. But a crack that's wide enough to catch a boot heel, or one where one side sits higher than the other, means the slab is moving.
